How Do We Heal Past Emotional Experiences?

In my field of expertise, I have learned a great deal about human nature and its deep rooted addiction to suffering – most of us suffer because of the beliefs we acquired in early age from parents, siblings and communities – We all have heard comments that we took literally and personally as perception or definition of who we are – I call these “programs” or “limiting beliefs” – This past weekend I attended a workshop based on Don Miguel Ruiz’s book “The Four Agreements” – I love to refresh my skills and am amazed at how much I still learn – In his book, Ruiz used the word “Domestication” and write that our own view of the whole reality is based on what we believe it to be, and it is just a concept! Having this knowledge does not mean it is the Truth; Knowledge is only what we know!

Many of my clients have physical and mental problems that are emotionally based which are directly connected to faulty beliefs about themselves – e.g: “my mother had this when she….my father used to say this all the time about me….it simply runs in the family.…my doctors told me it is in my genes….I was told that I can’t do this …”- Are you aware of the entire distorted images and negative inner dialogues you have about yourself? Look at an area of your life your are dissatisfied with – this is a limiting belief. The good news is – Anything can be changed!

This week, as I often do I decided to suggest some reading to one of my clients who I believed could benefit from reinforcement – I mentioned “The New Earth” and the “Four agreements” – to my surprise (my jars probably dropped!) she told me she had in fact read all of Don Miguel Ruiz books – She said she understood them intellectually but could not “do the emotional work” alone on a deeper level! She said just reading the book was not a very emotional experience, and thinking about her emotional issues wasn’t going to resolve them. She simply confirmed to me how important my work is, and that’s why doing the work as one on one, or in a group – workshop, with a trained practitioner is so important. I suggest you think of this as an ongoing process, just like the other parts of your health program.

There’s plenty of evidence, both from our clinical experience and from medical research, that emotional healing creates positive physical changes in the body. In a perfect world we would all be able to afford an alternative-integrative therapy, yet with the right therapist! I do ask people to view that cost as an investment in their health. There are group therapy options that are affordable and can be helpful. Hypnotherapy, Time line Therapy (NLP) and Meridian Therapy such as MTT, EFT, or TAT are very helpful for many people. Meditation, yoga exercise and other stress-relieving techniques that are helpful as part of your overall health plan, but unfortunately they are not a substitute for “your work.”

Deal with the past and move on… after Awareness come Forgiveness

It may take courage and faith to examine your own life, to face the past with kindness and gentleness for the person you have been and the people who have caused you pain, and to support the person you feel yourself becoming. Healing your past emotional experience helps create a joyful, healthy present moment and opens the doors to the life you want for yourself. Give yourself this Gift – just choose to believe you deserve it!

Emotional Eating – Why all diets fall short!

Many people have gone through numerous trendy diets and exercise regularly, yet still have pounds to release! What is not working then? There are many reasons why diets and physical exercise alone don’t work. First plain and simple “Diets to lose weight” don’t work period!

Second is the age factor – OK I know no one wants to hear that they are getting older, it is not about the number of years, more about the aging process itself and how it affects the hormones responsible to maintaining the homeostasis or health of your body. The homeostasis can be compromised by many external factors such as the environment, the water we drink, the air we breathe, the eating habits and most importantly the level of stress in your life.

Let’s identify some factors:

Hormonal imbalance: such as Adrenal Exhaustion due to STRESS, Thyroid, SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) is a type of depression that occurs at the same time every year.

Food sensitivities : You have a physiologic sensitivity to sugar or gluten (or both!) or other foods that is driving you to want those foods. We crave the very foods we are sensitive to because we’ve grown used the abnormal biochemical state those foods produce.

Neurotransmitter imbalance: Again Stress, Depression, and Chronic Fatigue – If we look first at biochemistry, it helps to understand the role of serotonin, one of the neurotransmitters most relevant to weight gain and loss. Serotonin is responsible for regulating mood, sleep, and body temperature, among other functions. What makes the cravings even more troublesome is that people with a serotonin deficiency often have a heightened pleasure response to carbohydrates.

Stress Old and New: It won’t surprise you to know that stress, and how you react to it, can be tangled up in your eating patterns. Stress activates your fight-or-flight response with the release of adrenaline and cortisol. This process can alter your digestion and your relationship with food. If you stay stressed for long periods, your body’s daily cortisol cycle will spiral out of whack, upsetting the normal internal conversation. Chronic stress allows these effects to continue indefinitely and you risk Adrenal Exhaustion, Hyper/hypothyroidism, Depression, Candida, SAD (Seasonal affective disorder) and other health issues like Insulin Resistance, Diabetes and Hypoglycemia.

While we all have stress in our lives, each of us will respond to it differently and that includes how, when, and what we choose to eat. If a person believes that showing his/her feelings and emotions is a sign of weakness, he/she might use food to hide that fear. Some people become obsessive-compulsive, and use strict food management to gain a sense of control over a stressful situation, especially one which is ongoing. Others retreat from stress, taking comfort in their favorite foods.

THINK ABOUT THAT! When we revisit in our mind old stressful events we set the cascade of chemicals reactions in motion once again! I call this “Living in the Past” or Negative “self-talk” – “Why did I do this?” “Why did he said/do that to me? “I can’t believe he/she….to ME!” worries do the same, you are in the future thinking of what worst can happened to you!

Stress is not a disease or a symptom- it is a learned behavior established early in childhood from our family programs. To change our response to stress is to let go of our old re-action to OLD and PAINFUL triggers. In NLP it is called an Imprint – in psychology an Engram – When you are able to accept all circumstances in your life as a RESPONSIBLE individual fully knowing that you have created then with your thoughts, you let go of VICTIMIZATION – you accept WHAT IT IS and start living in the NOW!

Emotional eating – healing starts with awareness! Whether we are using well-loved foods to calm ourselves, or depriving ourselves of them as punishment, we are preoccupying ourselves with food to prevent unwanted feelings, including — but not limited to — the big ones: anger, fear, despair, and shame…Emotional eating has its roots in actual emotions. No matter why you have these cravings or binging you need professional help!

Clearing the past for a brighter healthier future!

Mind-body & Energy Medicine

Clearing the past for a brighter healthier future!

Healing is about treating the person who has the disease, not merely about addressing the disease the person has. Spiritual healing brings about the easing of symptoms, the removal of blocks in energetic flows, the retrieval of repressed memories of emotional hurts, improvements in many illnesses, improvements in relationships, success, joy, and an opening into spiritual awareness. All of these may be achieved with no more than the laying-on of hands, with meridian tapping, Neurolinguistic, Hypnosis, Nutrition and mentoring.

Neurologist, Dr. Sigmund Freud, later father of Psychology and his medical colleagues knew very well as they wrote clearly in their practical medical books, that the source of every symptom in the body has a Subconscious Emotional pattern associated with. When that emotional pattern is triggered the body responded with a biochemical chain reaction – sending red flags to pay attention – yet this knowledge was disregarded by later medical schools and with the frenzy of developing drugs. It became in the habits to suppress symptoms with medications, therefore people lost the connection with their own internal communication.

Today we have so many people completely numbed physically and emotionally by psychotic drugs such as anti-depressants (Zoloft) and most suffered childhood traumas- http://bit.ly/7oC4aY. Unfortunately, there are now cases of them developing severe anxiety and panic attack after many years of using these drugs.

My experience grew as I worked with many people, mostly women who came to me for various reasons/symptoms/conditions, such as self-sabotaging habits, fear of success/failure, overweight, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, stress, addictions, insomnia, physical pain, anger, allergies, bad relationships, poor success etc…

These clients were victims of some form of abuse in the first 8 years of their life, or later traumas and most had years of “talk therapy”. Yet, they were unable to process the feelings/emotions associated with these memories. Suppressed memories manifested in their body as physical illnesses on top of a lack of confidence and self-love, unworthiness, fears, sense of failure, or angry behavior… Someone had to make the connection and this is why I excel in psycho-neuro-immunology.

In essence, spiritual healing is a holistic/whole-istic therapy. In my own practice of Neuro-linguistic–hypnosis-Energy therapy, nutrition, coaching combined with spiritual healing I find that the healing facilitates the retrieval of emotional traumas underlying physical and emotional problems, and limited beliefs. I help people to process the emotional traumas uncovered and released through healing by providing a new vibrational level of Energy. Often, and after completion of the healing process, my clients undergo coaching to support them rediscovering a sense of purpose or a passion in life. My personal belief is that this combination of cognitive, energetic, mentorship and spiritual elements offers a new paradigm for healing in this 21st century.

Bottom line, I help create a New healthier and happier person – if you are stuck, have poor relationships, unfulfilling or unsuccessful businesses, not reaching goals, consider giving me a call! You have not tried everything until you try everything ~
